AXELLE RED “SISTERS & EMPATHY” IN CONCERT NOV - DEC 2009
Over the last 15 years Axelle Red has proved time and again that she’s one of the few artists able to couple commercial success with the class of an international artist.
Earlier this year, her drive to explore untrodden paths resulted in the double album, “Sisters and Empathy”, her first album sung in English, which has now reached gold status. This album has showed that Axelle, besides being a true performer, is also a first-class songwriter. On the album, which also includes material from Tom Barman and Mauro Pawlowski, she sings out against social injustice and the abuse of women. There’s not a single track that isn’t drenched in a raw, sensual atmosphere.
Sisters & empathy is certainly a no compromise album. The album looks like a book, with a fascinating painting by Sam Dillemans gracing its cover. The accent is on the subject matter and its lyrical evocation, packaged in a sultry musical melting-pot of raw soul. Like in Don’t Want To Know, a John Martyn cover, in which Axelle Red has never sounded so sensitive.
Following on from the success of the sold out jubilee concert in the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Axelle will be doing a number of extra concerts with her great band in and around her home base, Belgium.
Then it’ll be time to take five and start preparing for the acoustic “Coming Home” theatre tour in the spring of 2010 before once again Axelle Red starts touring abroad.

Geweldig concert vanavond in Luxemburg! Om op je vraag te antwoorden: de volgorde was perfect! Veel nieuwe en veel bekende muziek! En een indrukwekkend Ne me quitte pas.
(Het is hier spijtig genoeg normaal dat sommige mensen voor de bis-nummers buiten lopen. Ligt niet aan je show.)

gisteren met een groot hart en veel respect voor deze dame naar het concert in Oostende geweest. Maar wat was er met de klank? zowel parterre als blok C was dit verre van ideaal, vonden meerdere mensen. De stem zat zo verscholen. En Axelle had het door. ‘ Jullie zijn zo stil’ Wel, we hadden de grootste moeite om jou te volgen. Het laatste deel met de twee gitaren was dan wel OK. We blijven wel enthousiast voor al hetgeen zij doet!!!
