Together, saving 4 million babies

This September, Axelle Red -Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF - visited Sierra Leone.
She took up the patronage of UNICEF Belgium’s national campaign “Together, saving 4 million babies”. The campaign focuses on child survival and the fight against child mortality.

Every year about 129 million children worldwide, start a race against time to build up the necessary potential for their development during the first five crucial years of their lives. Yet millions of children do not get a good start in life. Most of them because they have to grow up in extreme poverty. Every year 10 million children younger than 5 years old die because of this inequality. 4 million babies don’t even reach their first month in live. With this campaign UNICEF Belgium wants to give children a chance to a good start in life and point out that UNICEF can make a difference and give children a good chance to survive and grow up to their full potential.

UNICEF Belgium hopes to raise at least 300.000 € to support UNICEF-projects in the Pujehun district in Sierra Leone that provide children under five and pregnant women the necessary care and attention.
